About Me
I'm a freshman majoring in Computer Science at the University of Pennsylvania. I started coding all the way back in elementary school, but I can’t pinpoint the exact reason or how I became involved in programming. In middle school, I would spend hours scouring YouTube, finding tutorials on random programming topics. Now, 6 years later, I haven't changed all that much.
Besides programming, I like to bike outside or play soccer with a couple of friends. I'm also a Brandon Sanderson book fanatic.
Projects
MathWhiz was one of my Unity projects. I decided to create it after my Calculus teacher noted the importance of quick and accurate calculations without a calculator. I realized that most students, including me, had become very dependent on their calculators, so I decided to create an easy way to practice basic arithmetic. This was the first mobile app I made through Unity, and it included ways to practice math as well as calculate your skill level.
The app also made me the 2019 Congressional App Challenge winner for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.
In the summer of 2019, I had the chance to work on research for Adverse Childhood Experiences, otherwise known as ACEs. ACEs has a massive impact on every individual as they are shown to be the root of many issues, ranging from alcohol or drug abuse to cancer. Because of how prevalent ACEs are and their huge influence, I was immediately driven to work to find a solution. Under the guidance of my mentor, Dr. Seth Scholar, I combed through hundreds of research articles on ACEs that discussed its roots, effects, and possible solutions. Eventually, I started a few prototype websites where I implemented Vanderbilt’s ACEs Algorithm to show parents how their disciplining strategies were affecting their children. Throughout the project, I learned and got better at using PHP, SQL, and even Vanderbilt’s REDCap data system.
This was the first project I did where the end-product was for another person. I made this project after seeing my computer science teacher's website, which he made using an outdated software called Microsoft Front Page. Since I had a bit of free time, I decided to make a new personal website for him from scratch. The project also forced me to learn how to use JSON files and manipulate the data. At the end, I created a clean and quick website that handled around 20 years of data.
Perspecio was the largest project I had ever undertaken. It was the summer before my senior year, and all my plans had been canceled. So, with my friend helping with the graphics, I programmed a fun 3D game with Unity in C# with leaderboards created through PHP and SQL. I launched the first version of the game toward the beginning of June.
Disc Golf was a 3D Unity game I created from scratch that utilized the Skillz SDK API. I made this game while I was interning for a company called SEG Universe in the summer of 2021.
